Oshkosh North High School North High Choirs

Vocal music education at Oshkosh North High School involves participation of 175 students in 4 major concert organizations, including Choristers (fundamentals of voice production), Treble Choir (a continuing experience with more challenging repertoire), A Cappella Choir (a moderate to advanced ability group performing several concerts and a major musical), and Chorale (advanced music training and numerous major performances plus a musical). Prerequisite for placement in a vocal ensemble includes an audition.
Additional small ensembles, including the Madrigal Singers, consist of students from the A Cappella Choir and Chorale. All music courses at Oshkosh North High School teach individuals positive class participation and attendance, individual rehearsal technique, vocal technique and improvement, self-discipline, attitude and classroom management at a personal level, group and individual voice testing, written quizzes and exams, and pride and commitment in the fine arts.
Performances for the 1998-99 academic year include: Mon. December 7, 1998 - North High Madrigal Dinner; December 15, 1998 - North Choirs "Holiday Cheer" Concert; February 1-7 - North High Musical "The Unsinkable Molly Brown", Grand Opera House, Oshkosh; Tue. March 2, 1999 - All-City Choral Festival - 6th and 7th graders / A Cappella; Sat. March 6, 1999 - All-City Chorale Festival-8th graders / Chorale; Sat. April 24, 1999 - State Solo / Ensemble Festival, U.W. - Oshkosh, 8am; Thu. May 13, 1999 - North Choirs Spring Honors Concert; June 3, 1999 - North Commencement.
